About the course

Hononga is focused on relationship management and creating an Outcome Agreement Management Plan (OAMP) for each of the contracts you manage.

By the end, you will be able to:

  • Identify the roles of a contract manager
  • Use a relationship matrix tool
  • Use the Decision Support Tool to identify and manage risks
  • Apply strategies for managing disputes and conflicts
  • Complete a draft OAMP.

You can complete this course online.

Ratonga focuses on service delivery and having effective conversations with providers and stakeholders.

If you have attended the Contract Manager's Toolkit Workshops in the past, you are eligible to complete this course.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Identify the stages of service delivery and activities required in each stage
  • Apply Whakaritenga when planning for continuous improvement
  • Use a range of tools and practices to make agency/provider meetings more effective
  • Apply a set of strategies to promote effective conversations

Tikanga provides you with the opportunity to explore a deeper understanding of conduct and relationships in line with protocols and cultural practices.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Apply Tikanga in your work with social services providers
  • Recognise the way that you conduct yourself and how it affects others
  • Explore Māori and Pacific models that can be applied to maintaining relationships.

This course is a pre-requisite for the Whanaungatanga course.

Whanaungatanga provides you with skills to improve cultural competency including protocols and cultural practices.


By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Apply the steps of the pōwhiri process while managing relationships with social services providers
  • Identify organisational relationships and where these can be strengthened to promote greater cultural competency
  • Apply an understanding of koha to promote better outcomes
  • Apply tools to promote building and maintaining effective relationships.
